The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has urged Nigerians to stop using touts and informal agents for passport applications and other immigration services.
Eko Hot Blog reports that she said the NIS now operates transparent, direct-support channels available around the clock, making third-party involvement unnecessary.

Nandap delivered the message in Abuja at the fourth-quarter nationwide sensitisation campaign aimed at improving service delivery and reducing corruption. The programme, themed “Innovating for Transparency and Efficiency,” highlighted ongoing reforms designed to modernise NIS operations.

She explained that the Service has introduced digital platforms that enable applicants to initiate and track their requests from home.
According to her, the NIS has 24-hour call lines, an active call centre, and monitored email and social media platforms to assist citizens promptly.
The immigration chief also said the NIS is strengthening partnerships with security agencies, civil-society groups, international organisations, and the diplomatic community to align Nigeria’s border-management practices with global standards.

She encouraged the public to follow official procedures, use approved channels, and report challenges through the Service’s feedback systems. Nandap also honoured officers killed in the line of duty in Mogolu, Tuga, Tula, and Niger State, describing their sacrifice as a reminder of the risks security personnel face daily.
Nandap appealed to both citizens and officers to support ongoing reforms, stressing that meaningful change requires collective responsibility.
