The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has assured Nigerians that passport services across the country remain fully operational despite the migration of additional passport branches to the Central Personalization Centre.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday, the NIS explained that the migration is an administrative improvement designed to strengthen passport production and security rather than suspend services.
According to the Service, applicants can continue to visit their designated passport offices for biometric enrolment without any interruption.
“The recent migration of additional passport branches to the Central Personalization Centre is a strategic administrative enhancement, rather than a suspension of services,” the statement read.
The Service added that the centralised production framework is intended to align Nigeria’s passport system with global security standards while improving efficiency in processing applications.
It noted that applicants can complete biometric data capture seamlessly at their local passport centres, while passport production is handled centrally to enhance the integrity of the Nigerian passport.
The NIS also assured the public that passport capturing centres nationwide remain open and fully functional.
It stated that the production and distribution of passport booklets are continuing within the normal delivery timeline, with completed passports being returned to local commands for collection without delays.
“Citizens can rest assured that capturing centres remain fully operational, with physical booklets processed efficiently and returned to local commands within standard delivery windows,” the statement added.
The reassurance comes amid public concerns over possible delays following the migration of additional passport branches to the Central Personalization Centre.
