According to the NRC, the decision was taken to allow for critical operational assessments aimed at improving safety, reliability and service delivery on the route.
The corporation stated that the temporary halt became necessary after certain technical concerns were identified during routine operations.
It added that the move forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure passengers continue to enjoy safe and efficient railway services.
The NRC expressed regret over the inconvenience the development may cause commuters and other stakeholders, assuring the public that work was already ongoing to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
The corporation further stated that passengers and intending travellers would be informed before the end of the week about the official date for the resumption of train operations on the route.

The NRC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe, reliable and customer-friendly rail transportation services across the country and appealed to the public for patience and understanding during the temporary suspension.
