EKO HOT BLOG reports that the NYSC chief confirmed that arrangements for the increased allowance had been finalized, reiterating his commitment to improving the welfare and security of corps members. “By 2025, corps members will receive all the benefits they deserve.
Their security and welfare are my primary focus,” he assured.
Ahmed also praised the donation of the staff bus, highlighting its role in easing the transportation struggles of both NYSC staff and corps members. “Staff and corps members have often faced challenges commuting. This bus will make a real difference,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NYSC DG has issued a stern warning to corps members about unsafe travel practices. Speaking at the Anambra State Orientation Camp in Mbaukwu and the Ebonyi State Orientation Camp in Afikpo, he cautioned against night travel and boarding roadside vehicles.
“Unauthorized journeys, especially at night, pose significant risks. If travel becomes mandatory, seek permission from the NYSC and your employer,” Ahmed advised.
He also encouraged corps members to act as positive change agents within their host communities. Ahmed urged them to identify local needs, engage with residents, and initiate meaningful projects to improve community standards.
“Your service year is an opportunity to make a real impact. Work with your host communities to leave lasting, positive legacies,” he added.
The NYSC DG’s dual focus on financial welfare and safety underscores the program’s commitment to supporting corps members during their service year.
