The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed claims circulating online that the mandatory service year has been extended by three months.

The viral report alleged that from the 2025 Batch A, Stream 1, corps members would serve an additional three months due to a recent policy review. It also suggested that updated call-up letters and new orientation dates would soon be released.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that however, the NYSC, reacting via its official Facebook page on Wednesday, described the report as false and urged the public to disregard the information.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has called on the NYSC management to revise its orientation camp schedule to allow corps members more rest during the 21-day program.

Speaking at the 2025 annual management conference themed ‘Transforming the NYSC Scheme to Address the Needs of Modern Nigerian Graduates and Society’ held in Abuja on Monday, Olawande proposed delaying morning drills to 7:00 am instead of the current 4:00 am start.
