Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has admitted that he does not know his precise age, revealing that he judges it based on the surviving classmates he went to school with.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Obasanjo made the revelation during the Toyin Falola Interviews on Sunday, where he reflected on his early years and personal journey.

The former leader noted that six of his secondary schoolmates are still alive and none is younger than 90, suggesting that he is likely within that age bracket. He joked that the public might as well guess his age based on this information.

Obasanjo used the conversation to highlight why he founded the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, describing it as a repository of institutional memory and a safeguard for historical documentation.
He disclosed that more than three million materials have already been digitised, with another three million undergoing processing.
The former president detailed some of the items stored in the library, including letters he wrote from prison—among them correspondence with his wife and a message to the late General Sani Abacha—his school records, manuscripts, and records of crops he cultivated during incarceration.

He lamented that record-keeping remains a major weakness in Nigerian institutions, stressing that the Presidential Library aims to preserve the past to better guide future generations.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his exact birth year, Obasanjo publicly marked his 88th birthday earlier in March.
