The historic celebration, held under the revered traditional leadership of Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Adebowale, the Aladeshina of Odomola Kingdom, showcased the rich cultural heritage of the people and reaffirmed the importance of tradition, unity, and ancestral identity.
The atmosphere at the festival grounds was vibrant, with drumming, traditional displays, and cultural performances that reflected the deep historical roots of the Kilajolu Festival, widely regarded as a symbol of bravery, victory, and communal pride in Odomola.
Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Adebowale, in his royal address, expressed appreciation to all dignitaries, guests, and indigenes who attended the celebration in large numbers.
“This festival is not just a celebration; it is our identity, our history, and our pride as a people. It reminds us of where we are coming from and strengthens the bond that unites us as a kingdom,” the monarch said.
He further urged unity among traditional rulers, political leaders, and residents, noting that collective strength remains key to development.
“I urge all sons and daughters of Odomola, both at home and in the diaspora, to remain united. When we are united, progress becomes easier and our kingdom will continue to grow in peace and prosperity,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo, the Aladepekun of Odo Egiri, described the festival as a powerful expression of cultural identity and unity among neighbouring communities.
“What we are witnessing today is a celebration of our roots and a reminder that culture remains the foundation of our identity. Odomola has done well in preserving this heritage,” he said.
He called for stronger collaboration among traditional rulers to promote peace, unity, and cultural preservation across the region.
The Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area and members of his cabinet also graced the occasion, adding colour and prestige to the celebration.
The Chairman commended the monarch and the people of Odomola for sustaining the festival, describing it as an important cultural event that promotes unity and showcases the heritage of the community.
“This festival reflects our rich cultural heritage, and we are proud to be part of it. We will continue to support initiatives that promote culture, unity, and development,” he said.
The 2026 Kilajolu Festival attracted monarchs, political stakeholders, youth groups, market leaders, and community members from Epe, Ikosi-Ejinrin, Ibeju-Lekki, and Ikorodu, all gathered in celebration of shared heritage and identity.

The celebration was further enlivened by captivating musical performances, with popular entertainer Maika Alao taking centre stage as the official musician for the event.
