Sarah Ayinde, a wife, is reportedly on the run after allegedly setting her husband, Abidemi Ayinde, a special constable with the Ogun State Police Command, ablaze in the Iperu area of the state.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sources, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the incident took place on December 12, following what was described as a minor dispute between the couple. The disagreement escalated, leading to the alleged retaliatory act by the wife.

A source stated, “There is an incident in Iperu where a police constable was set on fire by his wife. They argued, and the wife resorted to such a terrible act. The victim is currently hospitalised.”

Confirming the incident , the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said efforts were underway to apprehend Sarah Ayinde, who fled the scene.

“On December 12, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a case of attempted murder was reported at No. 20 Igboore Street, Iperu. Abidemi Ayinde, a special constable, was set ablaze by his wife, Sarah, after a domestic disagreement.

“The victim was rushed to Bolawatife Hospital for medical treatment and is currently in stable condition. Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large as police intensify efforts to locate and arrest her. Further investigations are ongoing,” Odutola explained.

This incident mirrors a similar tragedy reported in October 2019, when a Lagos State policeman killed his wife during an argument before taking his own life.

Local authorities continue to urge the public to seek peaceful resolutions to domestic disputes to avoid such devastating outcomes.
