“When I was first approached about the throne, I wanted someone else to take it. But as tradition demands, the oracle was consulted, and it was confirmed that I was the rightful choice. At that point, I had no choice but to accept,” he explained.
One of the most challenging moments of his reign, he recalled, was a major religious dispute between Muslims and traditionalists in Epe.
“It was a serious issue, and even the entire Lagos State knew about it. But with patience, dialogue, and the unity of Epe people, we resolved the conflict. Today, there is peace among the three major religions in our town,” he said.
The Oloja also emphasized the importance of leadership values, stating that honesty and strong relationships with his people have been key to his enduring reign.
“A leader must be honest, straightforward, and maintain a cordial relationship with the people. That has helped me over the years,” he noted.
He further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recalling a promise made to him during Tinubu’s time as Lagos State Governor.
“He told me that Epe would become the second Lagos, and today, we are seeing the transformation.
We have an airport, a seaport, major real estate projects, and even a new university on the way. The road from Ajah to Epe now takes just 30 minutes,” he stated.
Despite the rapid development, Oba Animashaun called for further improvements, particularly in electricity and water infrastructure, as well as water transportation.
“We have made progress, but we still need more, especially in power supply and water transportation. These are areas where we hope for further investment,” he added.
As he looks to the future, the Oloja hopes to see Epe advance further, particularly in business and technology.

He urged residents to remain united and continue supporting the government’s efforts in driving development.
