- Olowa approves expansion of the road from 400m to 800m after community needs assessment
- Drainage construction progressing, with one side fully completed
- Road slated for completion and commissioning by Q1 next year
Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure as the Lakowe–Losoro Link Road project records significant progress, moving steadily into the drainage construction phase.
Eko Hot Blog reports that it will be recalled that on Monday, 8th September 2025, the Executive Chairman—represented by his Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji—flagged off the construction of the 400-metre Lakowe–Losoro Link Road.

The project was initiated to permanently address persistent flooding, improve access to the Lakowe Market Square and Community Health Centre, and create new economic opportunities for traders, transporters and residents.
The road also serves as a crucial link for the Losoro community, which has long lacked a reliable, all-season access route.
Construction began almost immediately after the flag-off, with contractors mobilised to site and early works progressing swiftly.
Following multiple routine inspections and assessments of community needs, Olowa approved a major expansion of the project—from the initial 400 metres to 800 metres.
The extended route now reaches the entrance gate of the Losoro community, offering broader connectivity and deeper impact than originally planned.
At present, the project has entered a critical stage with the drainage phase underway. One side of the drainage channel, stretching from the Lakowe School Gate road towards Losoro, has been fully completed.

Work on the second drainage line is progressing consistently despite the technical challenges posed by the terrain and the onset of the year’s final rains.
The Mayor expressed strong confidence in the project timeline, assuring residents that the road will be fully completed and commissioned by the first quarter of next year.
He emphasised that the completed project will enhance mobility, reduce travel time, minimise flooding and significantly boost socio-economic activities across both communities.
The Lakowe–Losoro Link Road remains a strategic component of Hon. Olowa’s S.H.I.E.L.D. agenda, which prioritises sustainable and people-centred infrastructure—particularly in underserved communities.
The initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to equitable development, improved service delivery and long-term resilience across Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
