The Ondo State Police Command on Thursday, May 28, 2026, confirmed the arrest of five men who allegedly abducted two school children in Ore, the administrative headquarters of the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the successful sting operation was carried out by the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad after the criminal syndicate had executed the abduction and extorted a ransom payment from the traumatized family.

According to an official briefing by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the intelligence-driven crackdown was initiated after a local resident, Andrew Yohana, reported that his two young sons, Jehu, aged 10, and Yohana, aged 5, had been intercepted and snatched by gunmen on May 12, 2026, while on their way to school in the Jerry Sawmill Area of Ore.
Armed with technical intelligence and sophisticated tracking analysis, police detectives zeroed in on the Alaba Area of Ore, where they initially arrested two prime suspects: Taofeek Lukman, 23, and Blessing Saturday, 27.
Subsequent follow-up raids exposed three additional accomplices identified as Peter Moses, 25; Sunday Isaac, 23; and Sanusi Dan Asabe, 37.
During the tactical breakthrough, detectives successfully recovered ₦251,000 in cash from the suspects, believed to be a portion of the ransom funds delivered by the family before the young brothers were allowed to regain their freedom.
DSP Jimoh noted that the suspects have already made useful confessions detailing their individual operational roles within the gang.

He added that aggressive tracking efforts remain underway to reel in fleeing members of the criminal network and to retrieve any remaining exhibits tied to the abduction scheme.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, highly commended his operatives for their professional conduct and the precise intelligence-led tactics utilized by the anti-kidnapping squad to secure the breakthroughs.
Reassuring families and the general public, CP Ohagwu reiterated the command’s unwavering determination to sustain an aggressive crackdown on kidnapping and related violent crimes, stressing that safeguarding the lives and properties of Ondo State residents remains the apex priority of his leadership.
