This online media platform Metro gathered that two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz ML350 with number plate AKD424HH and a Volkswagen commercial bus with number plate KSF934YA, were involved in the accident.

According to an eyewitness, Opeyemi Lateef, the accident occurred when the Mercedes Benz collided with a commercial bus that was parked at the bus stop while trying to avoid a road user.

“What happened was that the driver of this Benz tried to avoid hitting a road user who wanted to cross the road which resulted in a loss of control, thereby colliding with the commercial bus while its driver was waiting for passengers at the bus stop,” she said.

Another eyewitness who did not want his name in print attributed the cause of the accident to indiscriminate parking of commercial vehicles at the bus stop and speeding.

“I learnt he (Benz Driver) was trying to avoid a road user that wanted to cross the highway before he lost control and hit this bus,” he said.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident, attributing it to speeding.

Okpe said, “I can confirm the accident which happened at about 7.50am on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Magboro Bust Stop outward Lagos.
