Witnesses described scenes of absolute terror as spectators, including students and parents, scrambled for safety when gunshots suddenly erupted from the spectator stands behind the Blackstone Valley team’s bench.
The panic spilled out of the arena and into the surrounding neighborhood; an employee at a nearby Walgreens store reported that frightened individuals fled into the shop seeking refuge, forcing staff to shut down operations and evacuate while others hid inside.

Branden Mello, a local sports editor monitoring the game, reported that a parent attending the match confronted the attacker and managed to wrestle a firearm away from him.
Despite this heroic intervention, the suspect was said to have possessed a second weapon during the incident, further escalating the danger before the situation was eventually brought under control by responding officers.
The incident has renewed national concerns over gun violence in public spaces, particularly at school-related sporting events where families typically gather.
Pawtucket authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the invasion, while medical officials continue to assess the conditions of those wounded in the crossfire.
