EKO HOT BLOG reports that talks have intensified among opposition leaders, including the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who are reportedly working to form a strong alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.
However, the coalition efforts have faced hurdles, notably due to internal leadership crises within the PDP and a lack of a unified political platform. Analysts believe these divisions may weaken the opposition’s chances in 2027.
Speaking on Wednesday at the commissioning of key road infrastructure — the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and the Katampe, Jahi, Mabushi link roads in Abuja — Wike dismissed the opposition’s plans, attributing their collapse to President Tinubu’s performance.
“The coalition is bound to fail, and it has failed,” Wike stated. “Your good works have killed the coalition. Under Tinubu, contractors now have confidence in the government.”
Wike commended the president for restoring investor and contractor trust in public infrastructure delivery, insisting that development strides under the current administration have dismantled any real threat from opposition quarters.
He further pledged his unwavering support for the Tinubu-led government, adding, “Some people will not be happy; many of them were born not to be happy.”

The FCT Minister’s comments come amid growing political tensions and realignments across party lines as Nigeria heads toward the next electoral cycle.
