Delivering the keynote address at the event, the Registrar of the PCN, Pharm. Ibrahim Ahmed, noted that the ceremony represents a critical milestone in integrating global expertise into the country’s health infrastructure.
He commended the newly inducted professionals for their patriotic resolve to return home and apply their international training toward advancing pharmaceutical care across local communities.
Pharm. Ahmed assured the new inductees that the council remains fully committed to supporting their transition into the Nigerian health system, encouraging them to continuously familiarize themselves with the country’s ethical guidelines and statutory regulatory standards.
Also addressing the inductees, the Chairman of the occasion and the Esu of Karu in Nasarawa State, His Royal Highness Luka Baba, described the pharmacy profession as a noble calling that forms a crucial bridge between pharmaceutical science and direct patient treatment.
He highlighted the importance of the orientation exercise, emphasizing that it successfully adapted international academic preparation to match Nigeria’s peculiar public health needs and regulatory demands.
The Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Orientation Programme is a statutory initiative designed by the PCN to evaluate and prepare Nigerian pharmacists educated abroad.
The mandatory program covers local pharmacy jurisprudence, national health policies, and ethical protocols, ensuring all candidates meet the required standards before receiving official licenses to practice within the country.
