The convention has been mired in controversy following court rulings and internal opposition.

A federal high court had initially ordered a pause on the event over alleged procedural irregularities but later allowed it to proceed via interim relief.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has also urged the party to call off the convention, warning that holding it could deepen divisions within the PDP.
Speaking on the arrival of delegates, the National Vice Chairman (South‑West), Kamorudeen Ajisafe, confirmed that most states had reported and that the party has met the constitutional requirement of representation from at least two‑thirds of its 36 states.

On the ground in Ibadan, stadium preparations are ongoing, with party colours adorning the venue and logistics teams ensuring everything is set for the convention.
Political analysts note that this convention may be one of the most contested in the PDP’s recent history due to the ongoing factional disputes and leadership tussles.
As delegates continue to arrive, attention is on whether the convention will proceed smoothly or face disruption from legal or political challenges.
Party members and observers alike are watching closely, as the outcome is expected to significantly influence leadership positions within the PDP.
