All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has taken a swipe at Governor Ademola Adeleke over the distribution of 20,000 Globacom SIM cards to civil servants under the state’s new Glo-Imole Connect initiative.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Governor Adeleke launched the project on Wednesday, saying it was designed to improve communication across the public service and make government operations more efficient.

He maintained that the intervention would strengthen productivity and enhance service delivery.
However, the APC described the move as a ploy to monitor government workers, particularly those who may be in contact with reinstated APC-backed local government officials.
In a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, the opposition party accused Adeleke of “desperation” in his handling of the local government allocation crisis.
According to Olabisi, the governor invited striking members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and other workers to Abere under the guise of a crucial meeting but only handed them SIM cards.

He alleged that the SIM cards could be used as a “centrally coded tool” to track communications between workers and the APC officials.
“The latest sign of desperation on the part of Governor Adeleke over the delayed federal allocations to local governments is this espionage tactic disguised as a welfare initiative,” Olabisi said.
The APC further condemned the initiative as an “intrusion into workers’ privacy,” describing it as a violation of fundamental rights. The party maintained that Adeleke’s administration lacked focus and had failed to provide meaningful governance to Osun people.
It added that the distribution of SIM cards was a shameful distraction and insisted that Governor Adeleke could not escape defeat in the forthcoming 2026 governorship election.
