EKO HOT BLOG reports that Agbedi made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking on the morning programme of Arise Television.
The lawmaker maintained that Jonathan has every constitutional right to contest in the 2027 presidential election if he chooses to do so.
According to him, the PDP has already made significant progress in its efforts to draft the former president into the race.
“The PDP has spoken severally about Jonathan running and it has almost completed all the processes. The formal handing over of the certificates of returns is in my custody to be presented to Jonathan,” he said.
Agbedi argued that public service requires sacrifice and insisted that Jonathan’s return would be driven by a desire to help address the country’s challenges.
“As a citizen of this country every member of this country should sacrifice for this nation and with the credible transformation he had as President, if PDP wishes to bring the right person to help pull Nigeria out of her precarious situation, what Nigerians should be doing is to commend the PDP and Jonathan because if you don’t sacrifice for your country who else are you going to sacrifice for? Where else are you going to sacrifice?” he stated.
The lawmaker further defended Jonathan’s potential return to politics, saying those opposed to the move should recognise his willingness to continue serving the nation.

“If Jonathan will sacrifice for the betterment of Nigeria and people are saying he shouldn’t do that, where do you expect him to go and serve? He is contesting under the platform of the PDP,” Agbedi added.
