Tensions escalated at the Federal High Court in Abuja as #EndBadGovernance protesters accused security forces of intimidation while demanding the immediate release of activist and journalist Omoyele Sowore.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that amid a heavy police presence on Wednesday, one protester criticised the authorities for misplaced priorities: “Instead of tackling rising crime in Abuja, police officers are here harassing peaceful protesters.

This government and the illegal Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, are showing their true colors.”

The demonstrators insisted that Sowore should either be brought before the court immediately or released if no formal charges had been filed against him.

“What we are asking is simple—charge Sowore to court or set him free. His continued detention is a violation of his rights,” another protester declared.

Beyond Sowore’s case, the protesters called for an end to what they described as the weaponization of the judiciary against government critics.

“All politically motivated cases against critics of this administration should be struck out. The government must stop using the courts to silence opposition voices,” a protester added.

Despite the police presence, the protesters vowed to continue their advocacy until their demands were met.
