EKO HOT BLOG reports that his arrest followed a petition submitted against him, though the details of the complaint remain unclear as neither his associates nor the police have offered official clarification.
Hassan, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, was taken into custody after honouring a police invitation on Friday. According to reports, he arrived at the police facility in the afternoon but had not been released at the time this report was filed.
His detention is linked to comments he made alleging that Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, was deliberately frustrating Ramat’s confirmation despite the nominee having been screened by the Senate Committee on Power. He claimed that the Senate leadership was engaging in political obstruction and acting based on personal interests rather than due process.
Hassan also alleged that some Senate officials demanded a ten million dollar bribe from nominees of the regulatory commission before their confirmation could move forward. His accusations sparked widespread backlash and prompted a swift response from the Senate.

The Senate firmly denied his allegations, describing them as baseless and defamatory. Lawmakers insisted that the screening and confirmation processes for all NERC nominees were transparent and followed established legislative procedures.
