The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) has announced plans to embark on a three-day warning strike starting Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The strike is in protest against alleged efforts to deny non-teaching staff their rightful career progression to CONTEDISS 15, the peak of their career ladder, in the ongoing redrafting of the Polytechnic Schemes of Service.

In a letter dated January 14 and addressed to the Minister of Education, SSANIP called for immediate intervention to ensure equitable treatment of non-teaching staff.
The association emphasized that granting this progression would not disadvantage teaching staff, as both categories operate under distinct salary structures.
The letter, signed by SSANIP National Secretary Comrade Nura Shehu Gaya, was also copied to key government agencies, including the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Head of Civil Service, and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

“This action has become imperative to further emphasize our position concerning the ongoing plot to unjustly deprive non-teaching staff of their deserved career progression,” the letter stated.
SSANIP expressed frustration over unproductive engagements with authorities on the matter, describing the alleged marginalization as a direct affront to its efforts to promote equity and justice within the Polytechnic system.
The association urged the government to address the issue promptly to prevent an escalation.
