At the same time, NANS raised concerns over increasing xenophobic tensions affecting Nigerian students in South Africa. The group warned that many students are now living in fear due to reported attacks and hostility toward foreign nationals.

The association urged the Federal Government to take immediate diplomatic action to ensure the safety of Nigerians abroad, especially students.
It called for engagement with South African authorities to secure protection, monitor developments, and ensure those responsible for violence are held accountable.
NANS also recommended urgent support measures, including the provision of safe shelters, emergency response lines, and financial assistance for affected individuals. It further suggested that authorities consider evacuation plans for students who wish to return home.
According to the group, delays in addressing the situation could put more lives at risk.
While Nigeria’s acting ambassador in South Africa has indicated that the situation is under control, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged foreign nationals to respect local laws while reaffirming his government’s commitment to protecting human rights.

Separately, during an event in Abuja, NANS reiterated its call for youth inclusion within the APC. The appeal came during the presentation of a House of Representatives nomination form to former NANS president Lucky Emonefe, who is contesting to represent Ethiope Federal Constituency in Delta State.
NANS President Olusola Ladoja said Emonefe’s ambition highlights the capacity of former student leaders to contribute meaningfully to national development, urging the party to support such candidates.
