U.S. President Donald Trump has held discussions with oil industry leaders on how to manage the global energy impact if a prolonged American blockade targets Iran’s ports, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise.
According to a White House official, Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting focused on steps to stabilise oil markets and reduce the effect on U.S. consumers should the blockade extend for several months.

The strategy is part of broader efforts to pressure Iran into reopening the critical Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global oil shipments.

The talks came amid stalled diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, with the U.S. seeking to curb Iran’s oil exports through naval measures.
At the same time, Pakistan has reportedly been engaging in quiet mediation to prevent further escalation between both sides.
Oil prices reacted sharply to the developments, climbing significantly as fears of supply disruption grew. The ongoing conflict has already imposed heavy costs, with U.S. military spending estimated at around $25 billion so far.
Iran has vowed to continue disrupting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz as long as it faces pressure, raising concerns about wider instability in global energy markets.

Meanwhile, Trump is expected to receive further briefings from military leadership, including officials from United States Central Command, on possible next steps, including potential military options.
Tehran has warned of severe retaliation if U.S. actions intensify, while Washington maintains that Iran must not develop nuclear weapons. Iran, however, insists its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the United States is pushing for the creation of a multinational maritime coalition aimed at ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The initiative would involve coordination among participating countries to protect shipping routes and enforce sanctions.
Although countries such as France and United Kingdom have discussed possible involvement, they have indicated that any active participation would likely depend on a reduction in hostilities.
