Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has been installed with the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodu’a during a ceremony held on Sunday in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the event, which took place at the Palace Square of the Ooni of Ife, formed part of activities marking the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. Mrs Tinubu arrived at the palace around 1 PM and was welcomed amid fanfare, cultural displays, and heightened security presence.
She was received by the Ooni and his council of chiefs before proceeding to the main ceremony where the title was formally conferred on her.
The installation attracted notable dignitaries from across the country. Those in attendance included the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun, among several others. More guests continued to arrive as the ceremony progressed.
The chieftaincy title is one of the most prominent within the Yoruba cultural institution and is traditionally bestowed on women considered to have made significant contributions to society.
