The issue came up during plenary, where lawmakers warned that the prolonged vacancies across key ministries could disrupt governance and weaken service delivery.
The Assembly recalled that, during its first sitting after the suspension of emergency rule in September twenty twenty five, it had urged the governor to forward a fresh list of commissioners to restore full administrative functionality.
Governor Fubara had earlier dismissed all commissioners appointed during the political crisis, stating that they lacked proper constitutional approval.
Only those previously screened by the former Assembly were retained, with a few reassigned to new roles. As a result, several ministries are now being supervised by permanent secretaries instead of political heads, leaving critical sectors such as Education and Communication without commissioners.

During Friday’s plenary, lawmakers questioned the governor’s continued silence on the matter and called for immediate action to prevent further administrative strain.
They argued that the absence of substantive commissioners weakens accountability, affects policy direction and risks slowing down essential government programmes that impact citizens.
