Russia Distances Itself From Use Of Its Flags In Nigerian Protests
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Russian Embassy in Nigeria has denied any involvement or interference in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest, following reports of its flags being used by some protesters in northern Nigeria.
Protesters in the northern regions were seen marching with Russian flags, chanting slogans, and holding placards with various messages. This raised concerns about possible external influence in the nationwide protests.

In response, the Russian Embassy issued a statement on Monday, asserting that Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, including Nigeria. The embassy clarified that the use of Russian flags by the protesters does not represent any official policy or stance of the Russian government.
The statement read, “The Embassy has noted the reports in Nigerian media and the circulation of videos and images in digital media depicting protesters in northern states of the country carrying Russian flags and chanting slogans to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russia maintains a policy of non-interference in the internal matters of other nations.”

“The Government of the Russian Federation as well as any Russian officials are not involved in these activities and do not coordinate them in any way.
“As always, we emphasize that Russia does not interfere in the domestic affairs of foreign states, including Nigeria. These intentions of some protesters to wave Russian flags are personal choices of individuals, and they do not reflect any official position or policy of the Russian Government in the issue.
