Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the pilgrims is rooted in his reputation as a God-fearing and promise-keeping leader. Layode emphasized that this financial support was pledged during a one-day seminar held in Lagos back in May.
Out of the 180 Saudi Riyals, 80 Riyals have been designated for Ihram clothing, with the remaining 100 Riyals intended for the pilgrims’ upkeep during the crucial Hajj rituals in Mina and Arafah.
Additionally, Governor Sanwo-Olu has pledged to cover the cost of the pilgrims’ Hadiyah (sacrificial) rams and their Ziyarah (visitation) to significant historical sites in Makkah and Madinah, further solidifying his support for the spiritual journey of the Lagosian pilgrims.
With the major Hajj rituals approaching, the pilgrim Board has finalized arrangements for the movement of pilgrims from Makkah to Mina. This vital stage of the pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on the eighth day and end on the twelfth day of Dhul-Hijjah.
Hon. Layode announced that the journey to Mina would start on Tuesday evening and continue into the early hours of Wednesday, marking the eighth day of Dhul-Hijjah. This significant transition will subsequently lead pilgrims to the plain of Arafah, also known as Jabal Rahmah, from Wednesday evening until the early hours of Thursday, the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah.
