Senator Imaseun explained that both Senator Natasha and the Senate President’s wife have filed separate cases in court related to the matter. Consequently, the committee cannot proceed with the investigation due to the ongoing court proceedings.

The senate Committee hearing took a dramatic turn on Tuesday as a heated verbal exchange broke out between Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi of Ebonyi North and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.

The altercation unfolded during a session of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, where the committee was considering a fresh petition by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The discord began when Zubairu Yakubu, who attended the hearing with Ezekwesili and Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal counsel, Abiola Akiode, attempted to speak while Committee Chairman Neda Imaseun was still addressing the panel.

Yakubu was asked to mute his microphone, prompting Ezekwesili to intervene. Senator Nwaebonyi, serving as a witness for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, interrupted her, triggering the fiery exchange of words.
