Earlier, Sule had publicly identified Wadada as his preferred successor during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia.

The move reflects early preparations within the APC as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections.
Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the Senate, recently joined the APC after leaving the Social Democratic Party. His defection has been widely interpreted as a strategic step toward contesting the governorship.
In a related development, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has dismissed speculation about automatic tickets for current National Assembly members in the 2027 elections.

Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja, Yilwatda emphasized that the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act provide clear guidelines for candidate selection.
He stressed that all aspirants would go through the same process, noting that individual performance would play a key role for those seeking another term in office.
