Eko Hot Blog reports that three suspected cultists were shot dead during an exchange of gunfire with operatives of Ahoada Police Division in the Udebu community area of Rivers State.

Community sources also told our reporter that members of the cult groups had mobilized to engage in a supremacy battle at the community when they were intercepted by the Police.

Our source further disclosed that one Mr. Bright and two other suspected cultists were shot dead by the Police in exchange of gunfire with the hoodlums.

A resident of the community disclosed to our correspondent that a ‘General’ of one of the groups, Ikechukwu Uturu, aka “Old School”, and other cultists escaped with bullet wounds.

It was gathered that one locally fabricated G-3 rifle, a locally fabricated pistol that uses AK 47 ammunition, charms, and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the hoodlums by the Police.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident.

Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, said, “Yes I can confirm that three cultists were killed. The cultists were engaging in a supremacy battle when we (the police) received credible information and mobilised our men.

“Three of them were neutralised. An investigation is still on to apprehend other gang members and ensure that they face the law.”
