The school has approximately 450 students between the ages of 16 and 20.
Police said they received an emergency report shortly after 2 p.m. local time concerning suspected serious violence and immediately deployed available officers to the school.
One person was subsequently taken into custody in connection with the incident. Authorities later said there was no longer a threat to members of the public.

The attack occurred shortly after the school reopened following its summer break, with some students attending the school for the first time.
Several other schools and public buildings in Fagersta were temporarily placed under lockdown as authorities responded to the incident.
Swedish newspaper Expressen reported, citing unidentified sources, that police officers may have shot the suspect. However, the report had not been independently confirmed.
The incident has renewed concerns about school safety in Sweden, coming about a year after a deadly shooting at a school in Orebro, also in central Sweden. Ten people were killed in that attack before the gunman died by suicide, making it the country’s deadliest mass shooting.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer said the government was closely monitoring developments and maintaining contact with police.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said law enforcement authorities were working intensively to establish what happened and urged the public not to interfere with emergency responders.
Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson also expressed solidarity with those affected, saying Sweden stood with the people of Fagersta during the difficult situation.
