Police were alerted after an infant wrapped in a cloth was discovered in front of the hotel. The 18-year-old American student, who had given birth in a room on the hotel’s second floor, is now in police custody as authorities launch a murder investigation.

French officials stated that the young woman—identified as part of a group of American students traveling in Europe—was taken to a hospital for treatment following her delivery.
