Three Arrested for Supplying Stolen Motorcycles to Boko Haram Terrorists

The Nigerian Police Force has arrested a group involved in supplying motorcycles to Boko Haram terrorists operating in Niger and Kaduna states.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a press briefing by Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 7, Benneth Igweh, detectives, acting on credible intelligence, detained three individuals in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

The suspects have been identified as Shamsuddeen Yunusa (30), Zaharadeen Saidu (25), and Mustapha Haruna (22). Police recovered 22 motorcycles, various master keys, and stolen mobile phones from the group.

Igweh revealed that the syndicate is involved in the trade and modification of stolen motorcycles, which are either sold or rented to criminals, including Boko Haram members operating in parts of Niger and Kaduna.

He explained, “The syndicate specializes in buying and selling stolen motorcycles in Suleja. They then sell or rent these motorcycles to Boko Haram terrorists operating in Niger and Kaduna.”

The gang leader, Shamsuddeen, confessed to selling the motorcycles for ₦200,000 to ₦250,000 each. He recently received ₦250,000 from an individual in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna, for supplying Bajaj motorcycles.

Zaharadeen served as the courier, transporting the motorcycles to buyers, while Mustapha, the mechanic, repaired the stolen bikes before delivery.
