A fire outbreak has destroyed parts of three residential buildings and an electricity transformer site in the Gaida area near Fatima Bread in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State, Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to the Kano State Fire Service, the incident occurred around 11:05 a.m. on March 17, 2026, after a distress call was received from a resident, Aminu Bello.

Firefighters from the agency’s headquarters, along with teams from Sharada and Rijiyar Zaki stations, were quickly deployed to the scene.
On arrival, emergency responders found a large open space used as a transformer site completely engulfed in flames. The fire soon spread to nearby buildings, damaging three residential properties.
Witnesses described the situation as intense, with flames rapidly consuming parts of the buildings before firefighters were able to contain the blaze.
Officials said one of the affected structures, a smaller residential building, was badly hit, while a one-storey building suffered heavy damage, especially on its upper floor. A third building was also impacted by the fire.
Preliminary findings point to an electrical spark as the likely cause of the incident.

Speaking on the development, the Director of the Fire Service, Sani Anas, urged residents to be more cautious with electrical appliances and installations.
He advised the public to adopt proper safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
No casualties have been reported so far, while authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage.
The Fire Service also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report emergencies to help reduce risks and protect lives and property.
