- Tinubu Approves N302bn National Cancer Centre, N255bn National Hospital Projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a series of major healthcare projects, including the construction of a N302.3 billion National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment Centre and several new facilities at the National Hospital, Abuja.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting in Abuja.

According to Pate, the approvals are part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen specialised healthcare infrastructure and expand access to advanced medical services in the country.
Among the projects approved for the National Hospital is a new administrative and management block estimated at N18.74 billion.
The council also approved the construction of modular clinics and theatres for various medical specialities at an estimated cost of N64.92 billion.
Another major project is the construction of a high-end wing at the National Hospital, which is expected to cost about N103 billion and be completed within 24 months.
The government also approved the establishment of a Neuroscience Institute at the hospital at a cost of N69 billion.
Pate said the institute would provide specialised infrastructure for neurosurgical, radiological, interventional and rehabilitation services.
He said the facility would cater to patients suffering from conditions such as strokes, brain tumours and other disorders affecting the brain and nervous system.
The minister also announced the approval of a flagship National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment Centre as part of efforts to strengthen cancer research, treatment, innovation and capacity building.
The project, which will operate under the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, NICRAT, has an estimated cost of N302.3 billion.
According to Pate, the approval covers the design, construction, furnishing, equipping, supervision and commissioning of the cancer centre.

The project is expected to be completed within 36 months.
The minister said the new institution would serve as a major national centre dedicated to cancer research and treatment, while expanding Nigeria’s capacity to provide specialised care for cancer patients.
The latest approvals represent a significant investment in specialised healthcare infrastructure as the Federal Government moves to strengthen the country’s health system and improve access to advanced medical services.
