Tinubu Parts The Curtains, Reveals Behind The Scenes Of Insecurity In Nigeria
Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu expressed deep concern on Monday over the escalating insecurity in the North-West region, highlighting its broader implications for the entire country.
Speaking at a two-day summit titled ‘Regional Cooperation for Securing Lives and Livelihoods in North West Nigeria’ in Katsina, organized by the North-West Governor’s Forum in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized that the security challenges in the North-West were not isolated issues.
He stated, “Whenever any part of the country is in distress, it affects the whole nation.”
Assuring Nigerians of his administration’s unwavering commitment to addressing banditry, terrorism, and other forms of insecurity, Tinubu underscored the need for concerted efforts to restore peace and stability across the region.
“Nigeria’s security landscape has been significantly challenged over the past 15 years by the Boko Haram insurgency and the recent surge in banditry,” he acknowledged.
Highlighting his administration’s proactive measures in tackling inherited security challenges, Tinubu emphasized the importance of addressing historical injustices that have contributed to communal divisions and unrest.
“The formation of our nation was driven by the imperative of mutual protection. However, achieving national security requires addressing regional insecurities,” he emphasized.

President Tinubu stressed the need to strengthen institutional frameworks and economic structures to mitigate vulnerabilities to crime. He also emphasized the importance of countering ideological threats that undermine peace and security.
“The North-West faces various security crises, including farmer-herder clashes and cattle rustling, which have ruptured communal harmony,” Tinubu noted.
He outlined ongoing efforts to bolster security through regional defense collaborations and military operations such as ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ and ‘Operation Safe Haven,’ aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing border security.
“Our goal is a region where every citizen feels safe, every community enjoys peace, and state security forces operate at optimal capacity,” President Tinubu concluded.
The summit in Katsina gathered stakeholders to strategize on effective measures to combat insecurity and foster regional cooperation for sustainable development in North-West Nigeria.
