President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm Kingsley Tochukwu Ude (SAN) as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ude, who currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, was recently conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). His nomination fills the ministerial vacancy created by the resignation of Uche Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.
Nnaji, who represented Enugu State in the Federal Executive Council, stepped down last month following controversy over alleged discrepancies in his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials. Reports claimed that the documents he presented from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the NYSC contained inconsistencies.
The latest nomination signals President Tinubu’s effort to ensure continued representation of Enugu State in his cabinet while maintaining a balance across the geopolitical zones.
Ude’s legal background and recent elevation to the rank of SAN are seen as strong credentials that may influence a smooth confirmation by the Senate.
The nomination comes shortly after the Senate confirmed Bernard Doro as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following a brief screening session. Doro, the third nominee from Plateau State in the current administration, pledged to promote what he described as an “inclusive humanitarian ecosystem” during his confirmation hearing.

With Ude’s nomination now before the Senate, attention shifts to his upcoming screening session, expected to be conducted in the coming days.
