President Bola Tinubu arrived at the National Assembly on Friday for the presentation of the 2026 budget proposal to a joint sitting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The presentation followed an earlier request by the President to lawmakers, seeking approval to address the joint session on Friday, December 19, 2025.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that top officials of the National Assembly were present at the chamber, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
Also in attendance were senior members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, including the party’s National Chairman, alongside other government officials and dignitaries.
The budget presentation formally commenced after the rendition of the National Anthem.
Earlier on Friday, the Presidency confirmed that the Federal Executive Council had approved the details of the 2026 budget proposal ahead of its submission to the National Assembly.
The confirmation was made public by the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, through a post on his X account.
According to him, the approval by the Federal Executive Council cleared the way for the President to formally present the budget estimates to lawmakers.
He wrote, “The Federal Executive Council has approved the 2026 Budget and it is now ready for presentation to the joint session of the National Assembly, this afternoon by the President, Commander In Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”

The presentation marks the beginning of the legislative process that will see the proposed 2026 budget debated, reviewed, and possibly amended by both chambers of the National Assembly before passage.
