President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a N10 billion housing loan scheme for federal civil servants as part of efforts to improve their welfare ahead of the 2026 Workers Day celebration.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the initiative, alongside other benefits, is aimed at boosting the economic well being of workers and expanding access to affordable home ownership.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Head of Service, Didi Esther Walson Jack, said the Tinubu administration has moved beyond promises to delivering concrete improvements in workers welfare.
She described Workers Day as not just a time to reflect on past struggles but also an opportunity to renew commitment to fairness, justice and appreciation for public servants.
According to her, the welfare package includes full duty tour allowance for approved trainings, an upward review of peculiar allowance across grade levels and increases in estacode, book allowance and other entitlements to reflect current economic realities.

Walson Jack also acknowledged the role of key institutions such as the National Pension Commission, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, National Salaries Incomes and Wages Commission and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in strengthening and implementing the welfare reforms.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Usman Garba, said a well structured welfare system is critical to improving productivity and boosting morale in the public service.
The event also featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to ease access to housing loans for civil servants.
The briefing was attended by senior government officials, heads of parastatals and leaders of labour unions under the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council.
