Addressing his guests, Tinubu expressed appreciation for their presence, describing it as a reflection of unity and shared commitment. He noted that the country must now confront what he called the next major challenge, worsening insecurity, stressing that it threatens national growth and prosperity.

The president explained that his government is strengthening partnerships and exploring international support to tackle the problem. He revealed that discussions held in the United Kingdom focused on securing equipment and assistance, and added that he recently held further talks with Emmanuel Macron on similar cooperation. According to him, efforts are ongoing to engage other countries as well.
Tinubu also urged state governors to prioritize the welfare of vulnerable citizens, especially as global tensions, particularly in the Middle East, continue to drive inflation and reduce purchasing power.
He warned that rising costs, including energy and transportation, could place additional strain on Nigerians and increase pressure from labour groups.
He called on governors to remain focused and resilient in turning their plans into practical policies that improve living conditions, while also supporting the federal government in tackling criminal activities.
He further encouraged them to introduce measures that would help cushion the economic impact of global crises.

Speaking on behalf of the governors, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, thanked the president for his support to states and extended seasonal greetings.
He said governors are committed to ending insecurity and disclosed that consultations on the creation of state policing are ongoing, with plans to present a framework to the National Assembly.
Several governors from across the country attended the gathering, alongside the deputy governor of Borno State.
