EKO HOT BLOG reports that the world record holder secured her place in the season-ending championship after accumulating 28 points from five Diamond League meetings. The final is scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium, on September 4 and 5.
Amusan currently occupies second place in the Diamond League standings, trailing American hurdler Masai Russell, who leads the rankings with 32 points.
Both athletes are expected to compete in the remaining Diamond League meetings in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the season concludes, setting the stage for another thrilling battle for the prestigious Diamond League title.
Russell remains the fastest woman in the event this season after recording a time of 12.14 seconds. Amusan’s season-best performance of 12.28 seconds has also underlined her consistency, having matched that time on three occasions during the campaign.
The Brussels final is expected to renew one of athletics’ most exciting rivalries as Amusan seeks to reclaim the Diamond League title she won in three consecutive seasons between 2021 and 2023.
Victory in Belgium would earn the Nigerian star her fourth Diamond League trophy and further cement her status as one of the greatest hurdlers in the history of the competition.
Amusan also heads into the final as the women’s 100 metres hurdles world record holder.
The 28-year-old set the remarkable world record of 12.12 seconds during her historic run to the world title at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene in 2022. That performance remains the fastest time ever recorded in the event and continues to stand as the benchmark in women’s sprint hurdles.

With several Diamond League meetings still to come before the final, Amusan will be aiming to build momentum and close the gap on Russell as she prepares for another shot at Diamond League glory.
