World champions Argentina national football team have maintained their position at the top of the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Thursday, further strengthening their status as one of the favourites for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Spain national football team retained second place after recording a draw and a victory during the latest ranking period, while France national football team slipped to third following a defeat despite responding with subsequent wins.
England national football team occupy fourth position in the rankings, with Portugal national football team rounding out the top five. Brazil national football team are ranked sixth.
Nigeria’s Nigeria national football team remain 26th in the world despite recording mixed results during the latest international window.
The Super Eagles enjoyed a successful outing at the Unity Cup in London, securing victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica. However, the team later played out a 2-2 draw against Poland before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in an international friendly.
Despite those results, Nigeria’s position in the global rankings remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, Morocco national football team continue to set the pace in Africa after climbing to seventh position in the world rankings, maintaining their status as the continent’s highest-ranked national team.
The latest rankings come as attention increasingly shifts to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Mexico and Canada.
