The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, who drowned while swimming in a pond along Disina Road in Dutse Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the command received a distress call about the incident and immediately deployed personnel from the Takur Site Division to the scene.
The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when the teenager, a resident of Bokoto Quarters in Dutse, was reportedly swimming in the pond, popularly known as Sterling Pond.
The NSCDC said its officers evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

Following the confirmation, the body was released to the deceased’s family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Reacting to the incident, the Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
