According to reports, Awosogbon had gone to attend to a home service appointment booked through the spa where she worked. The appointment took place at Lakowe Golf Gate near Utmost Care Hospital.
However, investigations later revealed that she may not have been the intended target.
Speaking on the incident, the spa owner, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, linked the attack to issues surrounding a past relationship involving another suspect accused of arranging the act.
She explained that the relationship lasted only a few months and was marked by repeated disagreements before it ended.
Zakari and another suspect, Owolabi Daniel, have since been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ebute-Metta on charges relating to conspiracy, threat to life, and causing bodily harm.

In a video reportedly obtained after Zakari’s arrest on March 19, 2026, he allegedly confessed that he agreed to carry out the attack after being introduced to the job through a security guard.
According to him, he initially hesitated because he was afraid, but later carried out the act during another opportunity, only to discover he had targeted the wrong person.
He also claimed the substance used in the attack was provided by the individuals who hired him and said he paid part of the money he received to the security guard who connected him to the deal.
Court documents allege that the suspects conspired in October 2025 at Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, to commit offences including threats to life and causing harm, contrary to provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge sheet also alleged that one of the suspects sent threatening messages through WhatsApp, while Zakari was accused of unlawfully injuring the victim using a harmful substance.
