According to a student who reportedly shared the same hostel with the deceased, the altercation began when the senior student demanded food provisions from Ufokobong during terminal examinations. The request was declined, leading to an alleged assault.
“The senior hit him on the neck, after which he went into a coma. He was rushed to the hospital and later regained consciousness before being brought back to school,” the student claimed.
Sources further alleged that the school management did not inform the boy’s parents about the incident when they picked him up for the holiday.

At home, the boy reportedly complained of neck pain, which was initially treated as a minor ailment. However, his condition worsened days later, prompting his father to rush him to the hospital, where he eventually died in the early hours of Easter Sunday.
Medical findings reportedly linked his death to complications arising from blood clots around the neck area.
The incident has also brought renewed attention to alleged cases of bullying within the school. Some parents claim similar incidents had occurred previously without decisive action from authorities.
One parent, who spoke anonymously, cited past cases of physical assault involving students, alleging that such incidents have persisted with limited intervention.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has called on the Federal Government to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
The grieving father, while expressing deep pain, urged authorities to ensure justice is served.
“I cannot talk now. I am calling on the government to intervene for justice,” he said.
