Speaking at the opening session in Abuja, IGP Egbetokun declared that the initiative marks a decisive shift from outdated, reactive policing to a modern, intelligence-driven model.
He stated forcefully, “Without data, there is no memory. Without memory, there is no justice. But with data, there is no hiding place for criminals.
The system will serve as the “heartbeat” of intelligence-led policing, tracking repeat offenders, sharing intelligence seamlessly, and linking the Nigerian police with global platforms like INTERPOL.
Highlighting the importance of their new role, Egbetokun charged the operatives to approach their duties with professionalism, discipline, and integrity. He stressed that every record they enter becomes a vital weapon in the fight against crime.
The IGP concluded that this reform is a key part of the larger Police Reform Agenda, designed to end the era of forgotten cases and scattered files, ultimately rebuilding public trust in the Police Force.
