Musk’s move could disrupt Republican plans in future elections.
United States President Donald Trump has criticized Elon Musk’s decision to launch a new political party, describing the move as “ridiculous” and dismissing Musk’s efforts as a political distraction.
Trump, speaking on Sunday, referred to Musk as a “train wreck” who had gone “off the rails” following the tech billionaire’s announcement of his plans to challenge the established U.S. political system.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Musk, who previously led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump’s administration, reportedly parted ways with the president after a fallout over Trump’s heavily promoted tax and spending mega-bill.
“I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party. It’s always been a two-party system, and I think starting a third party just adds to confusion. Third parties have never worked. So he can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous,” Trump stated.
Elon Musk had announced on Saturday his intention to form the “America Party,” which he said would directly oppose what he called the United States’ “one-party system.” Musk argued that both Democrats and Republicans had failed the American people, particularly on fiscal discipline.
Musk, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO, strongly opposed Trump’s expansive domestic spending plan, warning it would severely increase the U.S. national debt. He pledged to fight against lawmakers who supported the bill, signaling a fierce political campaign ahead.
The former DOGE head, known for championing deep federal budget cuts and government downsizing, has accused both major parties of recklessly driving up national spending with little concern for long-term consequences.
Musk has yet to provide full details about his proposed party and whether it has been officially registered with U.S. electoral authorities. However, political analysts suggest that Musk’s entry could pose a significant threat to Republican dominance, particularly in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.

Trump, however, remains confident that Musk’s venture will not succeed, insisting the U.S. political landscape will continue to be controlled by the two traditional parties.
