Ejiofor was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and the unlawful importation of 56 kilogrammes of cannabis, while Christopher, 37, faced a one-count charge for dealing in 2.6 kilogrammes of the prohibited substance.
Prosecuting counsel, Peter Ekuri, informed the court that Ejiofor conspired with an accomplice who remains at large to smuggle the narcotic drug from Accra, Ghana, into Nigeria on February 19, 2026.
He was also accused of importing the cannabis into the country without lawful authorisation, contrary to provisions of the NDLEA Act.
Christopher was arrested on May 30, 2026, at the Ladipo Canal area of Mushin, Lagos, for allegedly dealing in 2.6 kilogrammes of cannabis.
Both defendants admitted to committing the offences and pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them.

Following their guilty pleas, the prosecution reviewed the facts of the cases, tendered exhibits before the court and urged Justice Kakaki to convict and sentence the defendants accordingly.
Counsel to the convicts, G.U. Okaka and Chief Lilian Omotunde, appealed for leniency, arguing that their clients were first-time offenders with no previous criminal records.
Delivering judgment, Justice Kakaki sentenced Ejiofor to two years imprisonment on each count, with an option of a N10 million fine.
Christopher was sentenced to four months imprisonment, with an option of a N300,000 fine.
The judge held that the penalties imposed were in line with the provisions of the NDLEA Act under which the defendants were prosecuted.
