EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision was taken at a Senate meeting of the institution and announced in a statement on Sunday by the Acting Director of Information, Habib Yakoob. He said the action followed a detailed review of findings and recommendations submitted by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
According to the statement, the affected students were found guilty of offences such as threat to life, assault, conspiracy, burglary and theft. Others were linked to cult related activities and the possession and use of hard drugs. Some students were also accused of uploading fake O Level results on the university’s admission portal.
The statement further disclosed that several students failed to appear before the disciplinary committee despite repeated invitations. Consequently, the Senate approved the withdrawal of certificates previously issued to 15 former students who refused to honour the summons after multiple notices.
In addition, nine students were cleared of wrongdoing after the Senate reviewed their cases. However, 33 students were issued formal warnings for offences including conspiracy, hostel racketeering and fighting.
The Vice Chancellor, Hakeem Fawehinmi, stated that the university remains committed to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment. He said the institution would continue to enforce its regulations firmly to preserve discipline and order.

Fawehinmi also commended the Student Disciplinary Committee for its thorough handling of the cases and urged students to conduct themselves responsibly to avoid actions that could jeopardise their academic future.
