The shooting took place at the Washington Hilton, a venue historically significant for presidential security following the 1981 attempt on Ronald Reagan’s life.

Preliminary reports indicate the shots were fired close to the magnetometers where guests were being screened. Law enforcement officers stationed at the perimeter reacted within seconds, neutralizing the threat and taking one male suspect into custody.
In a briefing held shortly after the incident, the Secret Service confirmed that while one agent was struck in their protective gear, no other guests or protected officials sustained injuries.
Anthony Guglielmi stated via social media that forensic teams are currently on the ground assessing the site and investigating the suspect’s background and potential motives.
President Trump, who later addressed the situation from the White House, lauded the “incredible bravery” of the agents who prevented what he described as a potentially catastrophic attack.
The suspect, identified as a 31-year-old California resident, remains in federal custody.
As the investigation moves into its second day, questions are being raised about the logistics of the breach, particularly how a suspect armed with multiple weapons could engage security so close to the President.
Authorities are expected to release more details regarding the suspect’s hotel residency and the specific firearms recovered as the Metropolitan Police and federal agents continue their joint assessment of the scene.
